Michael Garcia is a Cinematographer impassioned with the art and craft of visual story telling with a desire for meaningful narrative filmmaking.  


After Graduating from California State University in 2006, majoring in Fine Arts Photography as well as Cinema and Television Arts, Michael began his career as a Cinematographer on several short films, music videos and a feature film titled “Winter and Spring.”


In between the above mentioned work Michael also served as a camera operator for television programs produced for Comedy Central, The BBC, Animal Planet and The Style Network. The documentary style work helped, and continues to shape, his knowledge and passion for the creative visual medium.


With the drive to become a well rounded Cinematographer, Michael also worked in in the grip and electrical departments on long form Television Shows, Short Films and Features in order to extend his set lighting knowledge and proficiency. Michael has since worked in all capacities in these departments including Key Grip and Gaffer on Shorts as well as Feature films.


With his enthusiasm for narrative filmmaking Michael applied, and was accepted, into the Cinematography program at The American Film institute in 2008. Over two years Michael photographed 6 Short films, and has recently completed production on his Masters Thesis Film “The Debt Collector” and also graduated from AFI with his MFA.


Michael enjoys interesting, and thought provoking material, that enables him to bring his energy, positive attitude and experience into successful collaborations with passionate filmmakers.
